skyTECH Catch Block

The skyTECH Catch Block is a DOSH APPROVED zipline braking component engineered for high speeds and big impacts. It allows flyers to experience the thrill of the ride while safely arriving at speeds in excess of 80 km/h (50 m/h), to a smooth and secure stop. It can be used with the skyTECH Spring Brake and/or ZipStop.

When skyTECH Rocket or Jet Trolleys arrive at the landing platform, they lock into skyTECH Catch Block. This engages the skyTECH Spring Brake and/or ZipStop slowing the flyer to an immediate, yet comfortable, stop. An industry first using non-metallic running gear for extremely low resistance, increasing cable lifespan by 500%.

A latching mechanism allows rapid recoveries of flyers who don’t make it to the platform, even in strong headwinds and on uphill arrivals. This can have a dramatic effect on throughput, leading to increased profitability.

skyTECH Catcher

The skyTECH Catcher was engineered to catch and retain skyTECH Turbine trolleys approaching at speeds of 100 km/h (60 m/h). It also works well with Petzl and Robertson trolley systems.

When the trolley impact plate engages the catch gate swing arm, it pushes it up allowing the trolley to slide in. Once in, the swing arm drops behind the trolley, locking it in place, eliminating retrievals.

It can be used for ZipStop applications with positive angle stopping or as a catch device for gravity fueled ziplines. It allows operators to catch flyers who don’t make it to platform thereby pulling them in quickly and safely. It also works great on low tension hand brake systems.

skyTECH Spring Brake

The skyTECH Spring Brake is both DOSH and ASTM APPROVED for primary and secondary zipline braking components engineered for high speeds and big impacts. It enables flyers to experience the thrill of the ride while safely arriving at speeds in excess of 80 km/h (50 m/h), to a smooth and secure stop.

It’s comprised of a series of springs with differing PSI compressions. They are held together with spacer blocks and headed with skyTECH Catch Block or Catcher. When skyTECH Rocket, Jet or Turbine Trolleys arrive at the landing platform, they lock into skyTECH Catch Block or Catcher. This engages the skyTECH Spring Brake and/or ZipStop slowing the flyer to an immediate, yet comfortable, stop.

This is a proven primary brake for high speed systems that is cost effective, efficient and reliable - taking approx. 80,000 hits! When used in conjunction with ZipStop, it acts as an inexpensive secondary back up brake rarely getting hit.

skyTECH Spring Brake Crash Pad

The skyTECH Spring Brake Crash Pad is both DOSH and ASTM APPROVED and is strongly recommended to be utilized on any system using the skyTECH Spring Brake as a primary, secondary or EAD Brake. The implementation of one crash pad per existing spring bank, will greatly reduce the risk of entanglement, trauma or any additional injury that may result from riders employing the spring brake in extreme or abnormal operating conditions. It seamlessly interfaces with skyTECH Spring Brake … Installed within seconds by wrapping around existing spring bank then securely held in place by velcro & webbing.

Rotating Electro-Magnetic Brake

Rotating Electro-Magnetic Brake (REMB) is a patented rotating electromagnetic device developed for zero gravity simulators. A proven braking system, it has been successfully installed at ziplines with over 22% grade and speeds in excess of 100 km/h (62 m/h).

Skyline built a zipline off a ski jump at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta in 2007. To this day, it remains the fastest zipline braking system in the world with speeds braking at 120 km/h (75 m/h).

This magnetic brake technology is 100% fail-safe. It does not need a constant electricity source, it requires very low maintenance and it works well in any weather condition. The reason it’s so effective is that it relies on speed and is not weight sensitive. This ensures flyers experience the same stopping resistance each time, regardless of weight.
